The Audio wizard enables you to test the sound function of the microphone and/or the speaker volume. Click the Audio icon in the main System Test screen to begin. Before starting any test, you can adjust the Volume on the slider bar. By default, it is set to the maximum.
You can test the Speaker function by clicking the Test button in the Speaker Test screen (the second screen of the wizard). If an external speaker is connected, it will be tested. If no external speaker is connected, the built-in speaker will be tested. Music will be played briefly after you click Test, and at the same time there will be a visual indicator in the Energy bar. After the music finishes, a dialog box will display and ask if you heard the audio test.
Similarly, if you want to test an external microphone, plug it into the audio jack on the left side of your EeePC before testing. The built-in microphone will be disabled when an external microphone is plugged in. The wizard will require you to specify whether you are testing the internal microphone or an external microphone.
When you click Record Sound, the program will start to record sound input to the microphone for a period of five seconds, and during this time the visual indicator in the Energy bar will be active. After five seconds, a dialog box will inform you that recording has stopped, and that you can click the Play Sound button to listen to the playback of the audio test.
After you click Play Sound and the previously recorded five seconds has finished playing, a dialog box will display and ask you if you heard the audio playback.
Any audio that was recorded during the test will be erased when you exit the Audio wizard.
NOTE: In addition, you can view information about the audio device by clicking the System Info button at the left side of the Diagnostic Tool window, then clicking the Details button and then clicking Audio.
