Q3MIN - a minimal Q3A distribution

What is it?
-----------
Q3MIN is a minimalistic clone of the game Quake III Arena that was
created by id Software. The aim of this package is to provide a small
Q3A compatible game that can be freely distributed, is easy to download
and supports game play on custom maps created for the original Q3A game.
One may say that this is what Openarena (http://openarena.ws) should
have been. In fact, it uses a lot of material from Openarena (see below).

How was it created?
-------------------
The first version of this package has been created by Speaker (aka Laszlo
Menczel, that's me). You may contact me using the following e-mail address:

laszlo DOT menczel AT gmail DOT com.

The starting point of the package was the original game from id Software.
I unpacked the 'pak0.pk3' archive, then started to systematically replace
in the resulting folder tree all files using free material.

I used the following sources for replacements:

- 'official' Openarena disribution (version 0.8.1)

- the freely distributable Q3A texture replacement package created by me
  and Chiquita previously ('z-gpl-q3a2oa-textures-v5')

- miscellaneous sound material created by Chiquita

The engine of Q3MIN is based on 'ioquake3' (http://ioquake3.org), a freely
distributable (GPL) version of the Quake III Arena engine released by id
Software. I have used version 1.36 (revision 1582).

Development
-----------
Since the time I released the first version, a sizeable community has
gathered around the game, and development continues. We have a dedicated

people if you have any problem(s) running the game.

Please, test the distro and report problems to me. We shall be grateful
if you decide to contribute new stuff (textures, models, etc.). We will
not refuse submitted material if it is of good quality and appropriate
(unless another version is already there and your version is not
significantly better).
